Client computers must have Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer. The setup program will install the Borland Database Engine (BDE 5.2) and the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC 2.8).
In order to access an Enterprise Database, the client computer must be a member of the domain where the SQL Server is located. Integrated security is used so no additional user names or passwords need to be created.

Server hardware must be able to run Microsoft SQL Server or MSDE 2000. For a complete listing of all the requirements for Microsoft SQL Server please refer to the Microsoft website.
Access to the database is established with trusted connections. All access to the database is controlled via Windows Domain Users and Groups. Users will not need to establish a new password in order to access the database. However they must be members of an appropriate Windows domain in order to use the Enterprise version of the DataLog.
No additional server components are needed. The client program will connect directly to the database. Stored procedures and pass through SQL are the only methods used to access data on the server.

MSDE 2000 is a royalty-free, redistributable database engine that is fully compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The UAAR Enterprise DataLog will run against MSDE 2000 as well as a full version of Microsoft SQL Server. MSDE 2000 will run slower than a full version of Microsoft SQL Server if more than 8 users are running against the database at the same time. MSDE 2000 also limits the total size of the database to 4 GB. Without considering attachments, a database will hold 50,000 to 75,000 sales in a 4 GB database. Because the complete history of sales is tracked, changes to a sale will increase the space by the same amount of adding a new sale.

Microsoft is expected to release the next version of SQL Server later this year. The UAAR Enterprise DataLog will support SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Express. SQL Server Express is the new name given to the SQL Desktop Engine. After they are released, AgWare will test the DataLog with both versions and develop minimum supported system requirements. The minimum requirements for running SQL Server 2005 can be found on Microsoft's website.
