How Do I Calculate Depreciation in DataLog?

The method for calculating depreciation in the current version differs from the 2005 version. Originally, the Age and Remaining Life values were entered, and then the Physical Depreciation value calculated automatically. In the 2006 (current) version the Total Life value must be entered, and then the % Physical (Depreciation) value, the Effective Age, and the Remaining Life will adjust accordingly. The Effective Age and Remaining Life cells are locked because they are automatically filled. If the user unlocks and changes the value in a cell, the font appears red on screen to serve as a visual reminder.

A QUICK HINT: In order for the Functional and External Depreciation percentages to automatically adjust the Effective Age and Remaining Life, go to the menu Edit > Configuration > Math Settings and check all three boxes and then click on “OK."
