Creating Responses

You can set up specific values for each cell on the sales sheet using the response feature of the program.

Open up the DataLog and create a blank sales sheet by clicking on the New Sale menu and selecting New Blank Sale.

Click on the Cells menu and you will see that there are two options – Save as Response and Edit Responses. You will also see that next to the two options are shortcut keys. For the Save as Response, you can just press Control and F2 when you are on the cell you want to save and it will be added to the response list.

For the Edit Responses option, you can press Shift and F2 while you are on the cell and the Response Editor will come up with the list of responses for that particular cell. In this screen you can add as many new responses as you would like and you can delete as many as you would like. Please note that you can add responses for any cell on the page, but not for the comments section.

Now let’s set up our own response list for the cell Property Type – found at the top of the page towards the right hand side. We want to have several different types set up for our use – Transitional, Rural Residential, Residential, Ranchette, and Commercial. We will start with Transitional. Type TRANSITIONAL in the blank cell next to Property Type. Now click on the Cells menu and select ‘Save as Response’.

TRANSITIONAL should now be a saved response in that cell. Let’s save RURAL RESIDENTIAL as a response using a different method of saving. Delete out ‘Transitional’ and type in RURAL RESIDENTIAL and then press Control and F2. This response should now be saved. Click on the menu Cells and click on Edit Responses. The Response Editor should come up and in it you should have the two responses we have saved so far – Transitional and Rural Residential. Let’s add the remainder of our responses.

In the top box type in RESIDENTIAL and click on the ‘Add’ button. Also add RANCHETTE and COMMERCIAL. You should now have a list of five different responses for the Property Type cell. Click on the Close button.

Now we want to change the Property Type to COMMERCIAL. If you move your mouse to the cell you will find that a black drop down arrow appears at the right side of the cell. Click on the drop down arrow and you will see that all of your saved responses are there. Click on the ‘Commercial’ response to select it.
